IPL 2025 Final, RCB vs PBKS: Virat Kohli scripted history during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Punjab Kings IPL 2025 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Kohli came out to open the innings after RCB were put into bat first.

Kohli has now become the batter with the most fours to his name in IPL history. He achieved the feat early in the match and went past Shikhar Dhawan's tally. Kohli has been the face of IPL since the inception of the league, and boasts of a plethora of records, however, an elusive IPL trophy has stayed away from him.

As Virat smashed his first boundary of the match during the third over off Kyle Jamieson, he leapfrogged Dhawan in the list of most fours in the IPL. Kohli and Dhawan were tied at 768 fours, and the first boundary of Kohli helped him take the top position in the league. Dhawan achieved the feat in 221 innings while Kohli reached the landmark in his 258th innings. David Warner sits in the third position with 663 fours in the IPL.

Most fours in IPL history

Virat Kohli: 769* in 267 matches

Shikhar Dhawan: 768 in 222 matches

David Warner: 663 in 184 matches

Rohit Sharma: 640 in 272 matches

Ajinkya Rahane: 514 in 172 matches

Kohli has been in remarkable form with the bat this season as well and headed into the match as the tournament's fifth top run-getter with 614 runs to his name in 14 innings at an average of 55.82. He has smashed eight fifties this season so far.

If Kohli scores 86 runs in the match, he will become the first player in IPL history to go past the 700-run mark thrice. Kohli had previously scored 973 runs in IPL 2016 and 741 runs in IPL 2024. Gayle, meanwhile, scored 700+ runs in back-to-back seasons in 2012 and 13.
