Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2025:Heinrich Klaasen smashed the joint-third fastest century in IPL history, reaching the milestone in 37 balls during Sunrisers Hyderabad's match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Klaasen played a sensational knock of unbeaten 105 runs in just 39 balls on the back of seven fours and nine sixes.

The historic moment came during the 19th over bowled by Vaibhav Arora when Klaasen, who was at the non-striker's end for a while, took a double to reach the milestone.

Klaasen matched Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball hundred, which the former India cricketer smashed during the IPL 2010. Chris Gayle still holds the record for the fastest IPL hundred, having reached the three-figure mark in just 30 balls against Pune Warriors India during the IPL 2023.

Earlier this season, the 13-year-old Rajasthan Royals batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi also smashed a historic hundred. He became the fastest Indian and second overall to hit an IPL hundred. He completed his hundred in just 35 balls during RR's match against Gujarat Titans.

Fastest hundred in IPL (by balls faced)

30 - Chris Gayle (RCB) vs PWI, Bengaluru, 2013

35 - Vaibhav Suryavanshi (RR) vs GT, Jaipur, 2025

37 - Yusuf Pathan (RR) vs MI, Mumbai BS, 2010

37 - Heinrich Klaasen (SRH) vs KKR, Delhi, 2025*

38 - David Miller (KXIP) vs RCB, Mohali, 2013

Aiming to finish their IPL 2025 campaign on a positive note, SRH opted to bat first after winning the toss. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head provided a fiery start to SRH and stitched a 92-run opening stand. Both the batters were dealing in boundaries and capitalised brilliantly in the powerplay.

However, Abhishek was quick to depart after the end of the powerplay as he was dismissed by Sunil Narine for 32 runs in the seventh over of the innings. Travis Head kept going at the other end and smashed a magnificent half-century. He added 83 runs for the second wicket with Klaasen. The Aussie star was dismissed for 76 runs in 40 balls on the back of six fours and as many sixes in the 13th over.

Klaasen took over the charge and unleashed a carnage on KKR bowlers, smashing boundaries for fun. He stitched an 83-run stand with Ishan Kishan (29) for the third wicket.
