IPL 2025 Mega Auction: In a stunning turn of events at the IPL mega auction, all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer emerged as the surprise package, fetching a whopping Rs 23.75 crore as he made a return to the Kolkata Knight Riders in Jeddah.

Initially priced at a modest Rs 2 crore, Iyer's worth skyrocketed to over 11 times his base price after a fierce bidding battle ensued between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The bidding war for Iyer reached a fever pitch, with KKR and RCB engaging in a fierce duel. KKR initially raised the stakes to 14 crore, but RCB refused to back down, continually matching and raising the bid. The price skyrocketed past 18 crore and then 19 crore. In a stunning turn of events, KKR countered with a bid of 19.25 crore.

Mysore's latest intervention pushed the price to a staggering 23.75 crore. RCB finally dropped out of the bidding process. With RCB out of the running, KKR secured Iyer's services for the record-breaking sum of 23.75.

On the other hand, India's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 9.75 crore.

The bidding process for Ashwin commenced with a base price of Rs 2 crore, and it was his former team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), that initiated the bidding.

Ashwin's IPL career began with CSK in 2008, where he spent seven successful seasons until 2015.
