PBKS vs DC, IPL 2025: Bollywood actor and Punjab Kings (PBKS) owner Preity Zinta criticized the umpiring standard in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after her team was robbed of a certain six during the match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

The incident occurred in the 15th over during Punjab's innings, when power-hitter Shashank Singh smashed Mohit Sharma's last ball of the over towards long on.

DC's Karun Nair's acrobatic try to hurl the ball back inside the boundary for a likely six-save went askew as he may have connected the rope with his leg while holding onto the ball and hence even signalled six.

The drama unfolded when the call was referred to third umpire Chris Gaffaney, who saw no definitive evidence to grant a six which eventually resulted in a single run being awarded to Punjab.

After the game, Preity Zinta took to her X handle to voice her disappointment at the controversial decision, stating that the advanced technology available to the third umpire should've stopped such a mistake and such mistakes are unacceptable. The PBKS owner also mentioned that Karun Nair told her that it was a maximum after the game.

“In a such a high profile tournament with so much technology at the Third Umpire’s disposal such mistakes are unacceptable & simply shouldn’t happen. I spoke To Karun after the game & he confirmed it was DEFINITELY a 6 ! I rest my case ! #PBKSvsDC #IPL2025,” wrote Zinta on her X account.

Despite not getting the decision in their favour,  PBKS posted 206 for 8 with Iyer top-scoring with 53 off 34 balls while Marcus Stoinis played a magnificent cameo of 44 not out off just 16 balls, including three fours and four sixes.

DC, however, chased down the target of 207 with three balls to spare with Sameer Rizvi scoring 58 not out off 25 balls, studded with three fours and five sixes. Karun Nair and KL Rahul contributed 44 and 35 respectively as DC reached 208 for 4 in 19.3 overs.
