IPL 2025 Most Expensive Retained Players: The IPL retentions are in with the 10 franchises releasing the players they will be keeping on their side ahead of the 2025 auctions. There were quite a few surprises when it came to the players released as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul were let go by their former sides. But when it comes to MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, both men will be continuing their love affairs with Chennai and Mumbai respectively.
CSK decided to exercise the infamous 'uncapped player' rule to retain Dhoni as they also decided to keep hold of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja in their side. MI, on the other hand, decided to make Jasprit Bumrah their No.1 pick, followed by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav at 16.35 crores. Rohit Sharma has been retained for 16.30 crores and Tilak Varma was retained by the 5-time champions for 8.
2024 champions KKR decided to keep hold of Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh ahead of the auctions. Rinku has become their top pick for 13 crores, with Russell, Narine and Chakaravarthy also taking home 12. SRH decided to retain their star-studded core of Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
RCB decided to retain Virat Kohli for 21 crores with Rajat Patidar being brought back for 11 crores and Yash Dayal at 5.
