Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma was not a part of the playing XI of Mumbai Indians for their IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to field first, aiming to maintain their winning momentum. They headed into the match on the back of a thrilling win over Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in their previous match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Rohit was seen on the bench as he was named among their five impact substitute for the game. The veteran cricketer is expected to open the batting later tonight during MI’s chase. Rohit hasn't been at his best with the bat and has managed to score just 56 runs in just 5 matches at an average of 29.32. He managed to score just 12 runs in MI's previous match against Delhi Capitals which they won by 12 runs.

The five-time champions have been struggling for form in the ongoing season and have won two out of their seven games so far.

Rohit kickstarted his IPL 2025 campaign with a duck against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before registering a single-digit score in the subsequent affair against Gujarat Titans. He couldn't convert his starts into significant scores, managing 13, 17 and 18 runs against KKR, RCB and DC, respectively.

"We are going to bowl first. I think it is a lot to do with the dew; last night, there was dew, and always at the Wankhede, it is better to bat second. Same side. Everyone knew we had to give it all, and that made us close. That's (changing the batting order,) depending on the situation, we will do that, we back all the batters in our team. He (Bumrah) is fine. We don't need to worry about Jasprit Bumrah; if he's not fit, he wouldn't have been here," said the MI skipper Hardik Pandya at the toss.
