IPL 2025 Suspended: In an interesting turn of events, England have expressed a wish to host the remaining 17 matches of the IPL 2025 after the tournament was suspended for one week on Friday amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

BCCI announced the decision to ensure the safety of all the players as well as other parties involved. The 18th edition of the cash-rich league is expected to resume later this year, most likely in the month of September, if venues in India are deemed unfit to host games.

According to a report by The Cricketer, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has offered the BCCI to host the remainder of the IPL at their venues amid heavy speculations. Notably, the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off midway in Dharamsala on Thursday. On Friday, the LSG vs RCB match was also cancelled, with BCCI suspending the tournament on a temporary basis.

Earlier on Friday, the former England captain Michael Vaughan took to his social media and suggested that the IPL 2025 could be moved to England. He mentioned how it is a considerable option as the Indian players involved could stay in the country till the five-match Test series vs England commences in June.

"I wonder if it’s possible to finish the IPL in the UK .. We have all the venues and the Indian players can then stay on for the Test series .. Just a thought?" Vaughan wrote.

Following the abandonment of the PBKS vs DC IPL 2025 game, the players and staff were quickly moved from Dharamshala to the national Capital, New Delhi, on a train as the Railways ministry acted swiftly to help.

Notably, Pakistan unleashed attacks on India's military bases on different venues in India's Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. This came as a response to India's Operation Sindoor, which was carried out to neutralise nine terror infrastructures as a revenge for the Pahalgam Terror Attack that took the lives of 26 tourists on April 22.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders," the BCCI said in its release.

"The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders," it added.
