IPL 2025 Suspended: BCCI arranged a special train to evacuate the contingents of the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals from Dharamsala and were escorted to the Jalandhar railway station in batches through Hoshiarpur amid tight security. The IPL 2025 match between PBKS and DC was called off midway in Dharamsala as a precautionary measure amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
Along with the players of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, the commentators and production crew of broadcasters involved in the game were evacuated to New Delhi on Friday, May 9.
IPL posted a video of the journey with the BCCI and the players thanking the Indian Railways for arranging the special Vande Bharat train on short notice.
"Thank you, @RailMinIndia, for arranging a special Vande Bharat train on such short notice to ferry the players, support staff, commentators, production crew members, and operations staff to New Delhi.
We deeply appreciate your swift response," IPL posted on X.

Notably, the IPL 2025 has been suspended for one week, as confirmed by the BCCI on Friday. With all options on the table, the BCCI have opted for a temporary suspension, keeping the safety and interests of all stakeholders in mind. The development was triggered by the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were gunned down.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal earlier stated that any further decisions would be made in consultation with the government. "We are reviewing the situation. It's evolving, and we haven't received any directive from the government yet. Any decision will be taken keeping all logistical considerations and the best interests of stakeholders in mind," Dhumal had said.
The IPL 2025 match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Stadium on Friday was also cancalled. A total of 16 matches are still to be played in the tournament including the playoffs.
