IPL 2025: The IPL 2025 faced a major setback on Friday as it was suspended by the BCCI for one week amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. A total of 17 matches are yet to be played in the tournament, including the playoffs.

The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be replayed once the tournament resumes. Notably, the 58th match 58 of the tournament between PBKS vs DC in Dharamsala was abandoned after 10.1 overs, with PBKS at 122-1, due to a power outage caused by a significant technical failure in the area, causing one of the light towers to switch off.

As per a report in the Indian Express, the tournament will have the resumption of the PBKS vs DC match once it starts again after a week. However, it remains unclear whether the match will restart or will be played from the stage it was stopped on Thursday. Notably, the match between Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium was also cancelled on Friday.

“The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders," read the statement from the BCCI while announcing the suspension of the tournament.

The PBKS-DC clash was the crucial fixture for the teams' playoff chances. Both PBKS and DC are in the hunt for a playoff berth, and points won or lost could have a huge impact on their chances of reaching the playoffs. The decision to replay the game will ensure both teams will get a fair chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Reportedly, the BCCI have informed the franchise to tell their players to be ready for the IPL action within a week's time, however, getting the overseas players, who have left the country, to return in a week's time will be a task.

It has also been reported that if BCCI can resume IPL 2025 on time this month, they will look for another window, probably in September.

The IPL 2025, which kicked off on March 22, was scheduled to end on May 25, but it remains uncertain whether the tournament will extend given the current situation.
