IPL 2026 Final Date: The summit clash of the ongoing season of the IPL will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 31st May, as per the BCCI. The playoffs will begin with Qualifier 1 on May 26, followed by the Eliminator on May 27, and Qualifier 2 on May 29. These matches are scheduled to take place in Mullanpur and Dharamshala, providing varied venues for the playoff stage.
By choosing Ahmedabad over Bengaluru, the IPL breaks from its customary tradition of hosting the final at the defending champion's home ground. Therefore, holding the final at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the home of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, would uphold this tradition.
"Owing to certain operational and logistical considerations, the IPL 2026 playoffs will be conducted across three venues this season as a special case", a statement released by the BCCI said.
"Bengaluru was originally supposed to host the final. However, owing to certain requirements from the local associations and authorities that were beyond the scope of BCCI's established guidelines and protocols, the venue has been shifted and reassigned", it added.
Ticketing complications at M Chinnaswamy Stadium prompted the BCCI to revert the summit venue to the Narendra Modi Stadium, which had previously hosted the IPL 2025 final.
In IPL 2025, poor weather forced the final to be moved from Eden Gardens to Ahmedabad, making it the fourth time in five years the final was held there. The IPL 2024 final took place at Chepauk Stadium, contested by the Shreyas Iyer-led team and the Hyderabad franchise.

The current IPL season is approaching its conclusion, with seven teams vying for playoff spots. Punjab Kings, runners-up in IPL 2025, lead the table with 13 points from nine matches, while Rajat Patidar's team, SRH, and the Rajasthan franchise occupy the remaining top four positions.
Four teams have each earned 12 points, and the upcoming week will likely determine who advances to the playoffs.
