He then hit six in that same over and didn't just leave the star pacer; he left all the other players on the ground stunned. Sooryavanshi became the highlight of the game due to his match-winning knock of 39 runs off 14 balls during their IPL 2026 match against the Mumbai Indians, and he also overshadowed Yashasvi Jaiswal's innings of 77 runs off 32 balls during the rain-induced match in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The Hardik Pandya-led side lost their second match of the ongoing season as they couldn't match Jasiwal and Sooryavanshi's level and failed to chase the mammoth target of 150 runs in 11 overs. They could score just 123 runs. The MI bowlers were seen struggling as the two openers stitched a brilliant 80-run partnership in the first five overs and laid the foundation for the hosts' mammoth target.
Each bowler except Hardik Pandya had conceded 10 runs per over, whereas Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult leaked 22 runs apiece in the one over that they bowled. Bumrah had leaked 14 runs during his first over and then conceded 18 runs during the next two overs. In contrast, Shardul Thakur had conceded 36 runs during the two overs that he bowled, and Allah Ghazanfar, who was the Impact sub player, had leaked 21 runs in the two overs that he bowled.

Amidst all this chaos, Bumrah also failed to take a single wicket during his third consecutive game. This has been a rare incident in his brilliant career in the shortest format. This was the first time in eight years that Bumrah has gone wicketless for three consecutive matches and the fourth during his T20 career. He has been one of the best bowlers for MI in this tournament and for the Men in Blue in the shortest format, having taken 345 wickets across 273 T20 matches at a staggering economy rate of 6.92, which equates to 1.26 wickets per match.
The last time he went wicketless in three consecutive matches in this tournament was way back in IPL 2016, when he had figures of 4-0-35-0, 4-0-28-0, and 2-0-13-0 against SRH, RCB, and KXIP. He also went wicketless in T20Is during 2017/18 and in the 2014 IPL.
