IPL 2026: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to start from 28th March. The BCCI is keeping a close watch on the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and their possible impact on the cash-rich league. According to a senior IPL official, there have been concerns about potential disturbances to logistics and infrastructure if the situation worsens.
Possible challenges could involve the supply of fuel, such as cooking gas and oil used in stadium floodlights. There may also be disruptions to air travel. These could affect players and officials from outside India participating in the IPL.
A top IPL official clarified to India Today that, while they are monitoring the situation closely, no advance decisions have been made regarding potential disruptions to IPL 2026.
“We cannot pre-empt the situation. We have to wait and watch. Everyone we have spoken to says things are under control. Hotels say the same. So we have to go by that for now,” the official was quoted as saying to India Today.
The official also stated that, at this time, organisers see no need to modify the tournament schedule.
“At present, there are no significant issues. We will continue to monitor the situation and will only make decisions if circumstances require,” he explained.

The official was also asked whether the league had any backup plans in case the situation worsened. The official emphasized they would respond to the circumstance at that time.

“We are prepared to act if necessary. Should circumstances warrant it, we will implement appropriate measures,” he concluded.
The IPL is one of the world's best T20 tournaments. It includes both international and Indian players who come from different cities in India. Despite external issues, preparations for the upcoming season are proceeding on schedule. Officials are keeping a close watch on the situation, which might affect the tournament.
The IPL 2026 will begin from March 28, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament opener at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
