IPL 2026: Before the IPL 2026 auction, there have been a lot of speculations around the major trade-off between franchises for top players. Notably, an anticipated move of Gujarat Titans' all-rounder Washington Sundar to Chennai Super Kings was predicted after veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement earlier this year. However, the move seems unlikely after Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra's intervention, as per a report.
The report in Cricbuzz suggested that Nehra's stance to retain Sundar in GT has been communicated to the five-time IPL champions even before the all-rounder's match-winning 49 against Australia at the Bellerive Oval. The management had also communicated in the past that they had no plans to let Sundar go.
Sundar featured in six IPL games in the previous edition but has been a regular for Team India in almost every format. He was bought in for a price of Rs 3.8 crore in the mega auction.

KL Rahul To KKR Unlikely
The report from Cricbuzz also suggested that Delhi Capitals' wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul's shift to KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) might not happen at all.
There were reports that Rahul's move to KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) could happen after Sanju Samson's potential trade to the Delhi Capitals. Interestingly, Rajasthan Royals could bring in Delhi's Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi in place of Samson before the upcoming IPL auction.

However, Kolkata is not willing to part ways with players like Rinku Singh or Varun Chakaravarthy in any trade scenario, as per reports.
Given this position, a transfer for Rahul may not occur, even if the trade of Samson between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals goes through.
