India's Ishan Kishan has become the new No. 1 batter in the latest ICC Men's T20I rankings, ending teammate Abhishek Sharma's impressive run at the top. Abhishek had held the No. 1 spot for almost a year but has now dropped to second place.

The latest rankings were released after the recent T20I series between India and Ireland. Ishan earned the top ranking following his outstanding performances since returning to India's T20I side earlier this year.

The wicketkeeper-batter was one of India's biggest stars during the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He scored 317 runs in nine innings at a superb strike rate of 193.29 and played a major role in helping India lift the title.

Despite the change at the top, there is very little separating the two Indian batters. Ishan leads Abhishek by only seven rating points.

Indian batters who reached No. 1 position in the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings

With this achievement, Ishan has become only the fourth Indian batter to reach the No. 1 position in the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings after Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Abhishek Sharma.

Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan is ranked third, while England's Phil Salt is fourth. Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka completes the top five.

Suryakumar Yadav slipped to 8th

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has slipped to eighth in the batting rankings. The Indian batter, who captained the team to the 2026 T20 World Cup title, has seen his ranking fall after a dip in form. He also lost both the T20I captaincy and his place in the playing XI earlier this year.

Rashid Khan dominates in ICC bowling rankings

In the bowling rankings, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan continues to hold the No. 1 spot. India's Varun Chakaravarthy has dropped from second to third after not playing a T20I since the World Cup final in March. Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has moved up to second place in the latest rankings.
