IND vs SA, 2024 T20 World Cup Final: The BCCI took to their official X account and shared a special video as the Men in Blue are all set to depart from Barbados after their historic win. India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the summit clash last week at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

After this victory, the Rohit Sharma-led side was stuck in Barbados since the airport was shut due to the hurricane. But after three days, the team will be flying back to India in a chartered flight and will land in Delhi on early Thursday morning. Just before the team left, BCCI shared a video on their official X account and wrote the caption as “its coming home”.

The Indian cricket team will be meeting the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also congratulated them after the win via a phone call. It should be noted here that PM Modi has visited the Indian dressing room after their humiliating loss in the ODI World Cup final last year.

At the same time, after their historic triumph, the Rohit Sharma-led side became the third team to have won the title twice after West Indies (2012, 2016) and England (2010, 2022). India had won the T20 World Cup title in 2007 in South Africa under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. It took them 17 years to lift their second trophy.

The nation awaits team India’s return

While batting first, India posted a respectable target of 176/7 on the back of Virat Kohli’s match-winning knock of 76 runs. While chasing South Africa could only score 169/8, where Hardik Pandya registered figures of 3/20 and defended 15 runs successfully in the last over.

The Men in Blue ended their ICC title drought of 11 years since they last won an ICC tournament in 2013 in England. The whole country is anxiously waiting for their heroes to come back to India so that they can celebrate this win with them.
