IND vs ENG 3rd Test: England's sensational batter Jamie Smith scripted his name in the history books as he equalled the record of scoring the fastest 1000 runs in Test cricket by a wicketkeeper-batter. 

Smith engraved this milestone to his name during England's first innings against India in the third Test at Lord's on Friday.

Smith, who made his Test debut last year, equalled South Africa's Quinton de Kock as he accomplished the feat of 1,000 Test runs in just 21 innings.

He joined the list of Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal (22), England's Jonny Bairstow (22), Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (23), de Villiers (23), and West Indies's Jeff Dujon (24), who trail the duo.

Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow held the record of fastest wicketkeeper-batter to score 1000 Test runs for England before Smith shattered his record. Bairstow took 22 innings to cross the four-digit mark in red-ball international format.

Smith also achieved another milestone in the match as he reached 1000 Test runs in the fewest balls among active players, achieving the milestone in 1303 deliveries.
