Indian star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, with his exceptional performances during India’s tour of Australia, triumphed over strong competition against Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December 2024.

Bumrah delivered a phenomenal performance in the five-Test series, claiming an impressive 22 wickets at a remarkable average of 14.22. His exceptional bowling display single-handedly propelled India's pace attack, leaving a lasting impact on the series.

In the series, Bumrah's form looked exceptional right from the start, but came through in full-colour in Adelaide, giving a memorable performance. He later contributed greatly by taking four crucial wickets and considerably denting Australia's lead in the first innings in ensuring that India was always in the thick of things.

After an inspiring performance, Bumrah delivered another notch higher in Brisbane as he wreaked havoc on the Australian batting lineup. His six-wicket haul in the first innings can be equated to a touching mastery that compelled the opponent to sigh heavily. Bumrah bore his amazing dominance onto the second innings by containing another three Aussie outs for a game return figure nine wickets.

Bumrah's outstanding display in Brisbane ultimately led to a rain-affected draw, leaving the visiting fans optimistic about bringing the series to life.

The next day, the pace ace continued his incredible performance in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne. Despite the mediocre performance displayed throughout the match by the Indian team, Bumrah emerged as the only significant performer, bringing the side back from the ashes, by picking up four vital scalps in the first innings for India.

In the second innings of the Melbourne Test, his stunning skills left everyone awestruck when he took the five-wicket haul that helped bowl down the Aussies to 234 runs. However, the batting lineup of India struggled to live up to the occasion and so ended and the visitors suffered a loss by 184 runs.

Among the key achievements in the series for Bumrah was the capture of his milestone 200th wicket in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, Bumrah's impressive performance in the Border–Gavaskar Trophy came to an unexpected end after he sustained an unfortunate injury in the fifth Test in Sydney. He had to refrain from bowling since after Day 2, leaving a greater question mark about his availability to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
