ENG vs IND 3rd Test: England speedster Jofra Archer who marked an excellent return to test cricket after a hiatus 4 and a half year with a match-winning performance against India at Lord's on Monday. Archer took five wickets in the match to help secure a 22-run victory and 2-1 series lead. Notably, the sensational performance came on the same ground where he bowled an exciting Superover six years ago to help England claim their maiden fifty-over World Cup.
Archer, was up to the task in the morning as he removed Rishabh Pant's off stump followed by a one-handed stunning caught-and-bowled to dismiss Washington Sundar early to give an early dent to India's chances.
Working with captain Ben Stokes who bowled a marathon spell, Archer inflicted heavy damage to India's batting line-up putting them to 58-4 to 82-7 in the first 40 minutes. India, chasing 193, were eventually bowled out for 170.
The match was marked by verbal exchanges, particularly after Archer dismissed Pant and Sundar.
Regarding his exchange with Pant, Archer said: "It wasn't a proud moment. I just told him to cherish that moment. He came down the track and that annoyed me a little bit so when the ball nipped down the slope, I was so grateful."
"I told him CHARGE THAT!" 👊

Jofra Archer reveals what he told Rishabh Pant after bowling him this morning 😅 pic.twitter.com/mhg0hhIYQe
Opening up on his send-off to Pant, Archer said on Sky Sports Cricket, “It wasn't a proud moment. I just told him to ‘charge that’. Honestly, this morning, I was struggling a little bit, the ball just kept coming out full. One of the full ones, he just charged, and it pissed me off a bit. When the [wicket] ball nipped down the slope, honestly I was so grateful for that.”
On his return, he said, “Hectic one for first back. Bowled a few more overs than I thought I would. Only played one Test at Lord's and the last one was just as special as this one. It's been a long time coming, but moments like this make it worth it. You never know if you're ready until you're ready.”
