Venturing his way into English domestic competition, The Hundred, the Chairperson of the RPSG group, Sanjiv Goenka, recently announced the change in the logo and name of one of the teams (formerly Manchester Originals) acquired by him. However, the change has been met with a lot of flak on social media. The renamed team is Manchester Super Giants, as an elephant head has been added to the logo.
Also, Goenka is being trolled left, right and centre for mispronouncing the name of legendary Australian player Meg Lanning as Meg 'Canning' during the announcement video of new signings. Goenka's unpreparedness was evident as he called England's talismanic spinner Sophie Ecclestone, ‘a good spinner’.
“For the women’s team, it’s a combination of experience and youth," Goenka said in the video. “Sophie Ecclestone from England, 26 years, a good spinner. Meg ‘Canning’, somebody who’s been part of 7 World Cup campaigns, several victories. Smriti Mandhana from India, our own Smriti Mandhana, again a proven match-winner," Goenka said in the video.
As soon as the video dropped on social media, fans did not hold back in their reactions. Check them here:

It's one thing to not know the players. But getting their name wrong is a different level of unprofessionalism.

The fact that it's been left in the video as it is and no one noticed/corrected it, makes it so disrespectful.
Meg "Canning". Unreal! https://t.co/dK5aPXJQCB
Goenka's Stake
The RPSG acquired the team based in Old Trafford for a mammoth £80m for a 70 per cent stake. Along with LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) and Manchester Super Giants, Goenka owns the Durban Super Giants, an SA20 team in South Africa.
Notably, the franchise is yet to win a title in The Hundred, in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
IPL Owners' Investment In The Hundred
The Hundred has investments for individual teams from Reliance Industries (Mumbai Indians), holding a 49 percent stake in Oval Invincibles. They have renamed it to MI London. The GMR Group, which currently own the Delhi Capitals, bought a 49 percent stake in Southern Brave.
