IND vs ZIM, 4th T20I: Right-arm pacer Tushar Deshpande is making his international debut in the 4th T20I against Zimbabwe on Saturday. He would be replacing Avesh Khan in India's playing XI. He got his debut cap in front of his wife as the team management plans to work on a new pacer.
Deshpande was picked in India's squad on the back of his brilliant performance in IPL 2024, where he took 17 wickets. He bowled at a brilliant economy of 8.83 and a strike rate of 16.94. When he was asked about how he felt after receiving his debut cap, he admitted that his childhood wish was fulfilled.
"Very happy to be here. It all goes back to my childhood days when I dreamt of playing for my country. Being here wearing the blue feels very proud. Means a lot to me. The atmosphere is really great here. Playing for CSK in the IPL helped me. That experience will surely help me in the internationals. Overall the atmosphere in the team is chill," Deshpande told broadcasters ahead of the match.
