Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets in the IPL 2025 match 12 at the Wankhede Stadium. This was MI's first win of the ongoing season. Ryan Rickelton played an unbeaten 62-run knock whereas Ashwani Kumar took four wickets with the ball on his IPL debut.

Rickelton has reached his maiden IPL fifty as he has played a brilliant knock here in this run chase. MI are inching closer to a huge win despite the recent dismissal of Will Jacks for 16.

A dominant bowling display on their homecoming helped Mumbai Indians bundle out Kolkata Knight Riders for 116 in 16.2 overs.

Ashwani Kumar struck again, dismissing Andre Russell with a sensational delivery. The debutant's dream spell continued to get better, as he cleaned up Russell's stumps with a brilliant yorker. KKR: 88/8 in 12.4 ov.

Ashwani Kumar returned to the attack, delivering a short-pitched delivery to outfox Manish Pandey. KKR:  80/7 in 10.6 ov.

Deepak Chahar delivered a short-pitched delivery, outsmarting Venkatesh Iyer, who attempted to ramp the ball over the keeper but nicked it to keeper for easy catch.

Ashwani Kumar made a dream debut for Mumbai Indians, striking gold with his very first delivery. He claimed the prized wicket of Ajinkya Rahane, sending the experienced batsman back to the pavilion.

Trent Boult strikes, catching Sunil Narine off guard with a swift yorker in first over of the game while Deepak Chahar removed Quinton de Kock in the second over.

"We wanted to bowl first as well but I was confused looking at the wicket, generally Wankede is a good batting surface so I feel it's a good toss to lose. There's a little breeze going on, no dew factor to deal with. We will look to post a good total on the board and I have confidence in our bowlers to defend. We are playing good cricket, every games gives a good opportunity to play good cricket. Lovely ground, we are looking to play good cricket. Sunil comes in in place of Mooen," KKR captain said. 

"We gonna bowl first, looks like a good track. Knowing Wankhede, dew may or may not come. There might be some early swing, it plays well so we thought chasing is a good option. We want to get into good rhythm and kickstart. Overall, we want to play better cricket, we need to stay calm. Will comes back and we have a debutant," MI captain said.
