Mumbai Indians defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets and 14 balls to spare as they reach the 186-run target in 17.4 overs.

Shardul Thakur breaks the partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David as he got hold of the former in the 17th over. Suryakumar departs after playing a knock of 43 runs off 25 balls studded with three sixes.

The opening partnership between Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma comes to an end after a 65-run stand as Suyash Sharma clinches latter to give the first breakthrough to his side.

Tight last over from Riley Meredith as only 10 runs come off it with Andre Russell on strike. Mumbai Indians need 186 to secure second win at Wankhede. 

Riley Meredith removes Venkatesh Iyer after scoring 105 off 51 balls studded with nine sixes and 6 fours. Andre Russell joins Rinku Singh in the middle for the final overs. 

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) 160/5 after 18 overs. 

A 49-ball century for Venkatesh Iyer studded with nine sixes. He becomes the second player after Brendon McCullum to score a century for KKR. McCullum's century came in the inaugural season of the IPL. 

Hrithik Shokeen strikes again as he sends Shardul Thakur (13) back to the pavilion after Tilak Verma takes a brilliant catch in the deep mid-wicket. Rinku Singh joins Iyer in the middle. 

Hrithik Shokeen sends KKR lose skipper Nitish Rana (5) back to the pavilion in the ninth over. Meanwhile, Iyer completes fifty off 23 balls. Shardul Thakur is the new batter in the middle.  

Venkatesh sends Duan Jansen to two big sixes in the penultimate over of the powerplay. 16 from the over of debutant Jansen.

Another big over for KKR as Venkatesh Iyer smashes four and a six off Green to collect 14 runs from the over. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz is playing the second fiddle in the match so far.

Mumbai Indians start their bowling attack with debutant Arjun Tendulkar. Tight over with a leg-before appeal on the fourth ball but the umpire says no and the captain opts out of taking DRS.

"We were going to bat first anyways. The mood in the dressing room is good, need to improve our bowling. We believe we can chase 200-210. The ball might turn in the second innings I think. One player can't win you a tournament, it's a team sport. It's good for us, that everyone is scoring runs. We'll target to score around 180 on this wicket, we are playing with the same team," said Nitish Rana at the toss. 

"Will love to bowl first, the wicket looks dry. The ball comes on to the bat nicely later. Rohit is out, he has a stomach bug. Time to put up a good show. We are going with one change, Duan Jansen comes in, rest all is same."

"We had a good game (against SRH) as we scored 200, so as a batting unit everyone is pumped up and confident. It's a big away game for us today. Just training and travelling, plenty of travel days. I am trying to get the most out of this trip. This year has started well for me, I have enjoyed my cricket a lot. Really happy with where I am at, the hundreds have been great, form is good, hopefully I get a game soon. Got great memories at this ground, during the World Cup, and when Delhi (Capitals) came here, we beat Mumbai. It's an incredible ground and an incredible city, so pretty excited. He (Rinku Singh) is a pocket rocket, I didn't see that coming. He smacks it in the nets, and is a serious talent," said Jason Roy ahead of the match.

"Wankhede is always a lovely place to be. This is a day game and the sun is beaming down. Last game we got an average score of about 180 at the Wankhede, so we are hoping for a high scoring game but this surface is a very interesting one. There isn't a lot of grass and some of the cracks are showing. It is still a hard surface but because the grass has been shaven so closely, this surface could grip with so many spinners on show for KKR and 1-2 for Mumbai Indians. It could also hold a bit to encourage the slower bowlers. The fast men need to work a bit harder today. In this format, we usually hope for bat to dominate ball but a little bit of help for the slower bowlers isn't too bad," said Ian Bishop.
