Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants, IPL 2025: Mitchell Marsh looked in promising touch with the bat for Lucknow Super Giants during their IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Marsh provided LSG a magnificent start during their run chase despite Aiden Markram's early dismissal for just 9 runs in the third over. The right-handed batter smashed an incredible six off Deepak Chahar that travelled a long, long distance. The instance took place in just the second over of LSG's run chase when Marsh picked up a leg-stump half-volley from Chahar and unleashed a powerful hit that went on to hit the roof of the Wankhede Stadium.

However, Marsh couldn't convert his start into a big effort and managed to play a 34-run knock in just 24 balls on the back of three fours and two sixes before he was dismissed by Trent Boult in the 12th over. Boult dropped one short, and Marsh pulled it hard but failed to get the distance, caught by Tilak Varma at deep square leg.

Marsh has been in impressive form with the bat this season and is currently the second top run-getter for LSG after Nicholas Pooran with 344 runs to his name in 8 matches at an average of 43.

With a handsome total to defend, Mumbai Indians juggled their bowlers cleverly as the visitors struggled to find a response to the challenges thrown by the home bowlers. With his wickets column not reflecting how well he has bowled since his comeback, pacer Jasprit Bumrah finally reaped the rewards to return with an impressive figure of 4-0-22-4. He broke the back of LSG's chase with three wickets in the 16th over.

LSG's chase was also marred by another poor outing for their captain, Rishabh Pant (4). They were shot out for 161 on a perfect batting surface while chasing the massive target of 216 runs. This was the first time in seven attempts that MI have beaten LSG in the league stage; the only previous win came in the Eliminator in IPL 2023.

"The momentum that we had, we are carrying it forward. Everyone is clicking. The kids created the atmosphere for us, we did it for them, so very glad. Everyone kept taking their chances," MI skipper Hardik Pandya said at the post-match presentation.
