MI-W vs GG-W, WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians women defeated Gujarat Giants women by 9 runs in the match 19 of the Women's Premier League 2025 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, March 10.

This was MI's fifth win of the season as they maintained their dominance over Gujarat Giants in the tournament. They are placed second in the points table with 10 points under their belt after 7 games.

Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, but MI look desperate for a top finish at the end of the league stage.

MI produced a remarkable bowling effort to defend their total, bowling Gujarat Giants for 170 runs in their 20 overs. Hayley Matthews bowled a brilliant last over, defending just 13 runs to take her team over the line.

Chasing the target, GG never looked on track as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were struggling at 92/6 in 13 overs.

Bharti Fulmali arrived in the middle and started the attacking display right from the start. She smashed the MI bowlers all around the park. She brought Gujarat back in the hunt and almost got them home.

Fulmali's fiery knock of 61 runs in just 25 balls came to an end in the 17th over off Amelia Kerr. She had smashed eight fours and four sixes. Simran Shaikh also played a promising hand of 18 runs on the back of a four and a six.

Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr ended up taking three wickets each whereas Shabnim Ismail found a couple of scalps each.

Earlier, MI women posted a challenging total of 179/6 in their 20 overs after being put into bat first. Harmanpreet Kaur played a 54-run knock on the back of nine fours whereas Amanjot Kaur made a crucial contribution of 27 runs in just 15 balls, smashing three fours and a six.

"Been a bit of a frustrating tournament with the bat, nice to get the opportunity to bat at the top and probably I need to give myself a bit more time. We would have liked a few more runs at the 10 over mark, but Yastika put the icing on the cake in the end, which helped us push towards 170. I'm trying to keep the stumps in play because that is my most attacking option," Amelia said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match.
