MI vs GT IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been punished by the BCCI for maintaining a slow-over rate in their IPL 2025 match against GT which they lost by three wickets on Tuesday. During the rain-induced match in Mumbai, MI's winning streak ended after six matches during the last-ball thriller.

The Hardik Pandya-led side went beyond their time limit to finish their overs with a target of 147 runs and the hosts could only set four fielders during the last over, where GT needed just 15 runs to win the match.

The Shubman Gill-led side did chase the target on the last ball.

Hardik Pandya was punished with a hefty fine of Rs 24 lakhs as it was the second time this year that he had committed this offense.

“As it was his (Pandya’s) team’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Pandya was fined INR 24 lakhs," a statement released by the IPL said.

At the same time, the whole MI squad, which also includes impact sub-player Karn Sharma and concussion sub Ashwani Kumar were also fined Rs 6 lakhs and 25 percent of their match fee, whichever was less.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player and the concussion substitute, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," the statement added.

While batting first, the hosts posted a respectable target of 155/8 in their backyard on the back of a gritty fifty by Will Jacks and significant contributions from Suryakumar Yadav (35) and Corbin Bosch (27).

While chasing, the Shubman Gill-led side too had a shaky start but then Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler helped the team bounce back by stitching a match-winning partnership of 72 runs. After Gill's dismissal, the team suffered a batting collapse but was able to win it.
