19-year-old batting all-rounder Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Test player Sarfaraz Khan, will be out of action for at least 16 weeks after suffering the injury in a road accident.

According to reports in media on Saturday, Musheer is set to miss the match between Mumbai and the Rest of India side in Lucknow from October 1 to 5.

The 19-year-old batter, who smashed a century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy final, suffered an injury while travelling with his father and coach, Naushad Khan, from Kanpur to Lucknow for the Irani Cup match.

According to an Indian Express report, Musheer's car crashed into a divider on Yamuna Expressway while travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father and two others, resulting in concussion and neck pain for the young cricketer.

Following the accident, Musheer received medical attention, with initial assessments suggesting a recovery time of at least 16 weeks and a potential fracture requiring further examination.

Musheer's injury deals a significant blow to Mumbai, ruling him out of the Irani Cup match against the Rest of India from October 1-5 and the initial Ranji Trophy rounds starting October 11.

“He met with an accident last night and will miss the Irani Cup. He will be flying back to Mumbai on Sunday. The medical team of MCA and BCCI is monitoring his situation. The BCCI will be doing another round of medical tests and scan once he returns,” an MCA official said.

He scored 716 runs in 9 matches, including three centuries and one half-century and the left-arm spinner also bagged eight wickets. Musheer, who smashed a glorious 181 on his Duleep Trophy debut for India B against India B earlier this month in Bengaluru.
