Mushfiqur Rahim 100th Test, BAN vs IRE Match: Bangladesh's legendary wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim entered his name in the history books during their second Test match against Ireland, which started on Wednesday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Mushfiqur became the first cricketer from Bangladesh to play 100 Test matches.
After Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bat first, the former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar presented Rahim a special Test cap to celebrate his achievement.
Mushfiqur, who is also Bangladesh's top run-getter in Test cricket, was presented with signed jerseys of the playing XI of both teams ahead of the start of action. "I would like to thank all of you, my family, and especially my wife, who has spent a lot of sleepless nights for me, and most importantly, my teammates and my coaches, my friends back home, and also all my fans. So I just want to wish all the best for Bangladesh cricket in the future. I will give my 100%, as I always try. And I hope for the best," Rahim said during the ceremony ahead of the start of the first day’s play.
Bangladesh captain Shanto also congratulated Rahim and said, “Brilliant achievement, bhai. We have been inspired by you. Your hard work on and off the field has been inspiring. You have always been thinking about the team. Very inspiring for every young man who wants to play Test cricket."
The veteran cricketer has captained Bangladesh in all three formats. He has amassed a total of 6351 Test runs so far. He is the first and only Bangladeshi cricketer to score more than 6000 runs in Test cricket.

In the first Test against Ireland, Mushfiqur came out to bat at no.5 and scored 23 runs in 52 balls as Bangladesh ended up winning the match by an innings and 47 runs to go 1-0 up in the series.
