Nepal National Cricket Team vs West Indies Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Nepal earned their first-ever win against a full member nation, West Indies, in a historic occasion at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Notably, Nepal inflicted a 19-run defeat on the West Indies, signifying their rise in International Cricket so far. Notably, they claimed a T20I win against Afghanistan in 2014, but Afghanistan was an Associate team at that time.
It is worth noting that the Windies were facing Nepal for the first time. Windies have been two-time ICC T20 World Cup champions in the past; however, they got overpowered by an all-round side, with six batters hitting sixes, six bowlers contributing to the wicket tally, and their fielding being outstanding throughout.
West Indies, captained by Akeal Hosein, fielded four debutants and chose to chase after winning the toss. Although Nepal lost both of their opening batsmen early on, captain Rohit Paudel steadied the innings alongside Kushal Malla, whose aggressive play shifted the dynamics of the game. Malla's sixes off Fabian Allen and Obed McCoy set a positive tone before he and Paudel constructed a crucial 58-run partnership. Despite losing wickets in the later stages, including three wickets from Jason Holder in the nineteenth over, Nepal managed to finish with a competitive total of 148/8.

In response, Windies could only manage 129/9 at the end of 20 overs.
Win Dedicated To Martyrs Of Nepal Protest: Rohit Paudel
“It’s feeling great, a long wait to beat a Test-playing country, that too in a series we are hosting. I want to dedicate this award to the martyrs back home who participated in the protest. The last month has not been great for us, so if we can give a little bit of happiness to the people of Nepal, that would be great,” Paudel said.
Paudel added that this win is just a beginning for their Cricketing nation.
“The mindset was very clear: if we are coming here, we are there to win the series. We will stay grounded, do the process right, and see whatever comes next.”

Notably, the protests in Nepal began after the government blocked social media platforms such as Facebook, X, and YouTube, citing regulatory disputes. The ban quickly escalated into nationwide protests that took the lives of 22 people, and multiple people were left injured.
