IND vs NZ: New Zealand has appointed Jacob Oram as the bowling coach of the men's team ahead of their Test series against India. Oram is an ex-New Zealand all-rounder and took the job of the coach after Shane Jurgensen left the setup after the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. This isn't the first time that he would be part of the Black Caps as he had earlier worked with them as their bowling consultant in last year's Test series against Bangladesh, the T20I series against Australia, and also at the 2024 T20 World Cup. He would take up this new role on October 7.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to be involved with the BLACKCAPS again. To be back involved with a team that means so much to me and has been a big part of my life is a real honor," Jacob Oram was quoted as saying in a statement released by New Zealand Cricket.

He said that his comeback to the national squad was an honor for him and also an important part of his life. He emphasized the emergence of young talent in their bowling department and that he was looking forward to sharing his experience with them.

"The recent opportunities I've had have been a great insight into where this team is going and I'm excited to continue that work in the coming seasons. There's a fresh new wave of talent coming through in the BLACKCAPS bowling ranks and I hope that I can share my knowledge and experience to help best prepare them for the challenges of international cricket," he concluded.

Who is Jacob Oram?

His coaching career began in 2014 with the New Zealand A team and then he also became the bowling coach of the women's team in 2018. He became the head coach of Central Hinds last year and also guided them to the summit clash of Super Smash. He also has coached T20 franchise teams like Abu Dhabi T10 and was also the bowling coach of MI Cape Town in SA20.

New Zealand's upcoming sub-continent tour

The Test cricket season of the Blackcaps will start with a one-off Test series against Afghanistan, which will be held next month in Greater Noida. They will then lock horns with India for a three-match Test series and then play a series against Sri Lanka as all of these are a part of their WTC cycle.
