ENG vs NZ, 3rd Test: New Zealand's star batter Kane Williamson got dismissed in one of the most bizarre ways on the first day of the third and the last Test against England. In a surprising turn of events, Williamson unintentionally was seen kicking the ball towards his stumps and thus got out in England's Matthew Potts' over. This incident was both unfortunate and surprising, especially for someone like Williamson.

The Tom Latham-led side had a flying start as captain Tom Latham and Will Young built a gritty partnership of 105 runs for the first wicket. Williamson, who came into bat at No.3 position, continued his sublime form as he scored 44 runs off 87 balls. But his stay at the crease was shortlived as a delivery in Matthew Potts' over had hit his pads and it went towards his stumps. He tried to defend the ball as a reflex action, but Williamson unintentionally hit it towards the stumps and that left him both shocked and annoyed.

Williamson's reaction went viral as he hung his head low in utter disappointment. His wicket disrupted New Zealand's batting lineup as the English bowlers took advantage of this much-needed breakthrough and took wickets at regular intervals.

The openers did give the host a flying start but they suffered a batting collapse as they went from 105/1 to 232/7 till tea. Williamson's innings did help the host fight back despite the middle and the lower order collapsing against a formidable English bowling lineup.

Before the third and the last TRest match, the hosts would be trying to avoid a clean sweep in the home Test series since they have already lost the first two matches. Their inability to continue after the brilliant opening partnership led to their batting collapse. Williamson was the only one, who tried to fight back before his bizarre dismissal and after they faced an uphill task of posting a mammoth first innings total at Hamilton.

Williamson's bizarre dismissal has entered the list of cricketing quirks although they will have to bounce back to keep their hopes alive of winning the match.
