Team India's squad for the upcoming World Cup in India featured no surprise as captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced it on Tuesday from Sri Lanka. The squad is almost the same as the Asia Cup squad, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna are excluded from the side.

Notably, wicket-keeper Sanju Samson failed to make the cut after being named a travelling reserve for the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Other notable exclusion was of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. As soon as the squad got announced, cricket fans on X (formerly Twitter) made their disappointment clear with the squad selection. Check out the reactions here:

Captain Rohit Sharma leads the batting group, with Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav all named, as well as Ishan Kishan who provides another keeping option. All-rounders Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur have also been named in an emphasis on batting options.
