The much-anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 is just around the corner. The cricketing extravaganza will begin in India from October 5. To add a touch of glamour and exclusivity to the event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rolled out the 'Golden Ticket for Golden Icons' program.
But what privileges come bundled with this golden pass?
The golden ticket is a passport to cricketing nirvana, granting access to all 48 matches of the tournament from the heart of the action - the cricket grounds themselves. Golden ticket holders are entitled to a VIP experience par excellence. The accreditation card mentions the holder as BCCI's esteemed guest, ensuring a red-carpet treatment at the stadium.
While cricket enthusiasts gear up for this grand event, the BCCI has not been spared from criticism, primarily due to the delayed schedule announcements and technical hiccups during ticket bookings. However, in a bid to elevate the World Cup's stature and spread excitement, the cricket board is leaving no stone unturned.

Who are the holders of the golden ticket so far?
The BCCI has been presenting the unique, first-of-its-kind Golden Ticket for the World Cup to renowned personalities. Amitabh Bachchan, the star of the Bollywood film industry, received the ticket for the first time from board secretary Jay Shah on September 5, the day India unveiled their team for the quadrennial championship. Then, on September 8, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar received the same. Rajnikanth, received the Golden Ticket on September 19.

Can supporters buy the Golden Ticket?
No. The BCCI has been very clear about awarding these tickets to popular figures who have raised India's stature at the global stage through their achievements and skill. Therefore, it seems improbable that the general public will receive the Golden Ticket.

The 'Golden Ticket for Golden Icons' initiative is for the country's renowned personalities to elevate their World Cup experience to a whole new level. ICC recently unveiled the official anthem of World Cup 2023 titled 'Dil Jashn Bole,' featuring Bollywood sensation Ranveer Singh and other popular figures encouraging fans to celebrate the festival of cricket.
