Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first on a track which had some grass assisting fast bowlers. Starc got through both Pakistan openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique cheaply inflicting an early dent to the visitors. The likes of Agha Salman, Irfan Khan failed to impress with their knocks as Naseem Shah took it upon himself to drag Pakistan to a face-saving 203 for 10 in 46.4 overs.

With Pakistan naming four pacers including the returning Mohammad Hasnain in the XI, the hosts can find it difficult to chase a short-yet-daunting total on a pace-friendly MCG track.
