PAK vs BAN, 1st Test: Pakistan's star wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan grabbed a brilliant one-handed catch and got Zakir Hasan out on the third day of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Friday. It should be noted here that the Bangladesh batters started the day on 27/0, with openers Zakir Hasan and Shadnam Islam both at the crease.

But the opening pair could only score four runs as Naseem Shah drew the first blood for his team during the fifth over as he found the edge of Hasan's bat. The right-arm seamer bowled the delivery exactly outside the batter's off stump which gave little space to the left-handed opener.

But Hasan failed to find the middle of the bat and mistimed the shot and Rizwan took the brilliant one-handed catch as he dove to his left.

Rizwan also scored a brilliant unbeaten knock of 171 runs off 239 balls during the first innings and helped his team post a mammoth target of 448/6d. Rizwan came into bat when his team was reeling at 114/4 and he also built a huge partnership of 240 runs with Saud Shakeel (141).

Rizwan surpasses Jos Buttler's record

Rizwan smashed his third Test century by hitting 11 fours and three sixes. It should be noted here that he remained unbeaten in all his hundreds in this format. He also scored the highest number of runs by a wicket-keeper batter in the WTC history. Rizwan broke Jos Buttler's record of 152 runs against them in Southampton in 2020 and thus scripted history.

He also became the fifth Pakistani wicketkeeper to score 150 in Tests and also registered the third-highest score by a Pakistani wicketkeeper. Meanwhile, after losing Hasan, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto 16 (42) also departed shortly leaving Bangladesh on 53/2. After the two early blows, Shadnam Islam (53*) and Mominul Haque (45*) stabilized Bangladesh’s innings with their unbeaten 81-run stand and took their team to Lunch at 134/2.
