PAK vs ENG, 1st Test: England's star batter Harry Brook scripted history as he smashed the second-fastest triple century in the longest format by scoring a brilliant knock in Multan against the Men in Green on Thursday. Brook achieved this milestone in 312 balls, where he had hit 28 fours and three sixes and thus increased the woes of Pakistan bowlers in the series openers. Brook also broke Matthew Hayden's record of scoring a triple century off 362 balls against Zimbabwe in 2003.
Brook has also become the first England current player to have scored a triple-century. It is also the first time in the longest format that a triple century was scored since 2019 when David Warner scored 335 runs against Pakistan. The youngster brought up his triple hundred in Saim Ayub's over.
Brook scored 200 runs shortly after Joe Root achieved the same feat on Thursday as both of them went all-guns-blazing in Multan. Brook scored 200 runs off 245 balls, in which he had hit 18 fours and one six.
He began the fourth day at 142 and looked at ease and left no room for the Pakistan bowlers. He started his knock carefully by taking singles and two runs whereas Root had been batting aggressively since the beginning. Brook smashed his first boundary in the 107th over.
After finding his rhythm, smashing fours became easier, and that resulted in the Ollie Pope-led side going past Pakistan's first innings total of 556 runs and now have the lead. The duo then bated aggressively as Brook scored his double-century by taking a single.
He was unbeaten on 218 runs till lunch whereas Root scored 259 runs. They had stitched a partnership of 400 runs and thus helped the team continue its dominance. Post lunch, Brook was at his absolute best as he took the Pakistani bowlers to the cleaners.
