Setting a new benchmark, Afridi emerged as the leading wicket-taker in ODIs after 65 matches with 131 scalps, overtaking Rashid Khan's tally of 128 wickets.
Afridi entered an exclusive club with 350 international wickets in just 177 matches. The left-arm pacer's count comprises 116 Tests and 104 T20Is. With seven five-wicket hauls and an average of 24.77, Afridi is on a roll, but he is still behind Wasim Akram's towering 916 international wickets for Pakistan.
Talking about the match, Hasan Nawaz played a crucial unbeaten knock of 63, including a six and a boundary, propelling Pakistan a five-wicket win over West Indies in the first one-day international on Friday.
Speaking after the match Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan, "Hasan Nawaz and Talat deserve all the credit. The conditions weren't easy, but to have that partnership coming in at 7, want to give a lot of credit to Hussain Talat. We want to improve a bit on our bowling, the ball was gripping in the first half and towards the end we gave a few too many runs I feel. Bowlers are happy because they feel it (having a single ball after the 34th over) can reverse and the feeling was different among the bowling group."
