PAK vs NZ ICC Champions Trophy 2025: New Zealand's star opener Will Young put up a brilliant performance during the tournament opener against Pakistan, as he smashed a hundred in Karachi. He scored his grit and determination and thus scored his fourth ODI hundred and it was also his first in the ongoing mega-event.
But, his brilliant knock was ended during the 38th over, when Faheem Ashraf took a stunning catch.
Will Young's century come to an end
Young played a huge role in New Zealand's innings although the team did suffer a top-order batting collapse and Naseem Shah thus took his wicket. The ball angled in as Young tried to play a slog sweep but his poor footwork forced him to mistime the shot as the ball hit the inner half of the bat. The ball went towards deep square leg as Faheem Ashraf was seen running and took the stunning catch.
The Men in Green began celebrating whereas Will Young got a standing ovation from the fans in Karachi.

Initially, Mohammed Rizwan won the toss and chose to bowl first, as he wanted the bowlers to take advantage of the conditions. The bowlers did give the hosts the much-needed breakthroughs and thus put the pressure on the Kiwi batters.
Abrar Ahmed took Devon Conway's wicket and then Naseem Shah dismissed Kane Williamson early and that had put the Kiwis in a spot of bother. Daryl Mitchell got out after scoring just 10 runs and that added more woes to the Mitchell Santner-led side.
Speaking of the game, New Zealand was 258/4 after 45.2 overs, where Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips were out there in the middle.
