Pakistan vs South Africa 1st Test: Pakistan reached 313/5 in 90 overs in their first innings against South Africa on the first day of the first Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday. The hosts had opted to bat first after winning the toss.

Pakistan were off to a disappointing start as they lost Abdullah Shafique for just 2 runs in the first over of the match by Kagiso Rabada. The recovery was made by Imam-ul-Haq and skipper Shan Masood. The duo kept things going and stitched a magnificent partnership of 161 runs for the second wicket. Both the batters hit their fifties.

The partnership was broken by Prenelan Subrayen as he dismissed Masood for 76 runs. The senior batter had hit nine fours and a six during his stay at the crease, but ended up missing out on his century as he headed back to the pavilion in the 48th over. Imam was the next to depart as he also couldn't convert his effort into a big one. Senuran Muthusamy dismissed him for 93 runs, with Tony de Zorzi taking the crucial catch.

The left-handed batter had hit seven fours and a six. Muthusamy made it two in two as he removed Saud Shakeel for 0 on the very next delivery of the 57th over. The hosts couldn't add more to the total in the next couple of overs before they lost former skipper Babar Azam.

Babar looked promising for his 23-run contribution with the help of four boundaries, but was dismissed by Simon Harmer. That was the last success the Proteas got on the first day as Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha stitched a crucial partnership for the sixth wicket. Both the batters completed their respective fifties and have added 114 unbeaten runs. Rizwan has scored 62 runs with the help of two fours and as many sixes, whereas Salman is at the other end, hitting two fours and a maximum.

For the Proteas, Muthusamy took two wickets while Rabada, Subrayen and Harmer found a scalp each.
