Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first against Sri Lanka in the match 15 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 23. This is the third match of the Super Fours stage.
Both teams are in a desperate of win after suffering defeats in their respective previous fixtures. Sri Lanka suffered a loss against Bangladesh in a thrilling contest whereas Pakistan were outclassed by their arch-rivals India on Sunday.
A win for either side will keep their chances alive for making it to the final of the tournament. Aiming to return to form after a disappointing performance against India, Pakistan came up with an unchanged lineup whereas Sri Lanka made multiple changes.
"We will bowl first. Looks a good wicket, don't think it will change much. I think we started well (against India), but then the tempo shifted.. They are a good side, we’re a good side. We don’t think about the past, just need to focus on today. We have an unchanged side," Pakistan skipper Salman Agha said at the toss.
They have brought in Chamika Karunaratne and Maheesh Theekshana to replace Kamil Mishara and Dunith Wellalage.
"I would have done the same thing. It looks a good pitch, don't mind batting first. We are playing good cricket, we need to improve in a few areas. Batting and bowling at the death. There are two changes. Theekshana and Karunaratne are in. We thought that we might need one extra bowler, that's why we have brought in a bowler who can bat," Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka said at the toss.
