West Indies vs Pakistan 2nd T20I: Jason Holder's four-wicket haul and the batting orders' small contributions helped West Indies keep the three-match T20I series alive against Pakistan, sealing a hard-fought two-wicket victory in the second match at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground.
The stadium erupted in a frenzy of joy, with players and fans revelling in the sweet taste of victory as West Indies beat Pakistan and avoided going on their longest losing streak in men's T20Is, breaking a six-match losing streak.
Holder, who orchestrated the thrilling win, slammed a winning boundary, letting out a triumphant roar before hugging his teammate Shamar Joseph.
Holder laid the groundwork for the team's thrilling win with his stunning spell that yielded 4/19, restricting Pakistan to a manageable 133.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan suffered early blows, which riddled their innings but the side recovered with Salman Agha and Hasan Nawaz stitching up a lively counter-attack, generating a vital 60-run partnership.
However, the partnership did not last long as Holder's powerful double-strike brought Pakistan's revival to an abrupt end. The hosts tightened the screws in the final five overs, restricting Pakistan to a meagre 23 runs.
In the chase, the West Indies' batting task grew daunting as Pakistan's disciplined bowling exacerbated the hosts woes. A brief glimmer of brilliance from Jewel Andrew was smothered out as the side struggled to keep up with the required run rate.
Meanwhile, Captain Hope's stay at the crease yielded just 21 runs in 30 deliveries. The spinners mowed down the middle order and Jason Holder was tasked to stage another thrilling heist in the one final over.
For the final crucial make-or-break over, the bowl was handed to veteran pacer Shaheen Afridi with the hopes of pulling Pakistan out of a daunting situation for victory. But the innings from Holder came out of the syllabus for Pakistan.
Holder grabbed the opportunity with both hands when Afridi deviated from his plan, edging the ball past two fielders for a boundary and dealing a crushing blow to Pakistan's hopes.
