The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced that they have released right-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal from the Test squad ahead of the series against Bangladesh.

"Aamir, who was earlier included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, has been advised to work on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Aamir is recovering from a back injury which he sustained while playing county cricket this year," PCB said in a statement.

Pakistan's pace attack has suffered a blow ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, as Aamir Jamal has been ruled out due to fitness issues.

Aamir, who sustained a back injury while playing County cricket in England, was initially included in the squad conditional on passing a fitness test. However, his ongoing fitness concerns have led to his release from the team, forcing Pakistan to make further adjustments to their squad for the crucial ICC World Test Championship series.

Aamir's lingering back issue has forced him to withdraw from Pakistan's Test squad, and he will now focus on rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

This development, combined with the recent releases of Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam, has trimmed Pakistan's squad to 14 members ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, which begins on Wednesday.

Pakistan is set to field an all-pace attack in the first Test against Bangladesh, with Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah leading the charge, supported by Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza.

Aamir, who made a promising debut against Australia earlier this year, was expected to contend for a spot in the starting lineup, but his injury has put his return on hold, and he will have to wait for another opportunity to join the team.

The first Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan will start from 21 August at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
