Irfan Pathan vs Shahid Afridi: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has found support from across the border as ex-Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has fired fresh salvo at former teammate Shahid Afridi. For the unversed, Irfan opened up on his relations with Afridi revealing how he dismissed him 11 times in international Cricket. During a recent appearance on a podcast, Irfan Pathan opened up about his battles with Afridi and how he dismissed him on 11 occasions in international cricket.

Irfan Pathan even labelled him as 'badtameez aadmi (ill-mannered man)', highlighting strong views against the Pakistani all-rounder.

In a recent interview, Pathan stated that he was involved in an altercation with Afridi, which was initiated by the Pakistani by messing with his hair on a plane during his 2006 tour of Pakistan.

However, Pathan did clarify that he wasn't friends with Afridi as he didn't take his actions in a friendly manner. “The childish behaviour was actually his. He was not my friend. After that, Afridi said some abusive words to me. His seat was right next to mine,” said Pathan.

"I said, "He (Afridi) has eaten dog meat, he has been barking for a long time" After that, Afridi couldn’t say anything. Whatever he might have said, I would have just said, 'Look, he is barking again," he added.

Danish Kaneria, took to social media to express his opinion, stating that Afridi lacks “class and decency”.

“Irfan bhai, you’re absolutely right. He always resorts to personal attacks—be it on someone’s family or their religion. Class and decency clearly aren’t his strengths,” Kaneria wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

History between Kaneria and Afridi

There is no denying the fact that Kaneria and Afridi have been at loggerheads in the past. He also alleged that Shahid Afridi pressurised him to convert but Kaneria didn't budge.

“I was doing well in my career and was playing county cricket too. Inzamam-ul-Haq supported me a lot and was the only captain who did so, alongside Shoaib Akhtar. But Afridi and many other players troubled me a lot. They wouldn’t eat with me. Shahid Afridi was the main person telling me to convert, and he did so multiple times. Inzamam-ul-Haq never spoke to me in that manner,” Kaneria stated.
