The wait for Pakistan's chase continues as rain plays hide and seek in Kandy. The covers are still in the middle as rain continues in Kandy. Pakistan need 267 to win the match in case of a full 50 overs match. 

Rain has stopped and the covers are coming off. Umpires were in the middle to inspect the ground as the groundsmen were preparing the outfield for Pakistan's chase. The next inspection will take place at 9 PM IST.  

Pakistan pacers picked all 10 wickets to bundle out India for 266 in 48.5 overs. Shaheen Afridi bagged four scalps while Haris Rauf and Naseen Shah claimed three dismissals each in a rain-interrupted innings.

For India, Hardik Pandya scored 87 runs while Ishan Kishan smashed 82 to post a competitive total after losing top order cheaply.

Heavy rain extends the innings break and delays Pakistan's chase in the high-octane clash. The ground is fully covered as it is still raining in the Pallekele and overs reduction is likely in the match. 

Ishan Kishan departed after scoring 82 and rebuilding India's innings after losing early wickets in the match. His knock included two sixes and nine fours as he stitched a 138-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya. After Kishan's departure, Ravindra Jadeja came in to bat at No. 6. 

As per the match visuals, it is looking like there will be another spell of rain as dark clouds are coming towards the stadium in Pallekele. As of now, there is no rain but another brief interruption is likely to happen.

The rain showers have stopped and the players are back in the middle to resume the proceeds of the match. Shaheen is back with the ball as India resume from 15/0.

At 12:15 local time, there is no rain at the moment as clouds are seen easing away for now. 

As per the locals, when it rains in Kandy, it generally means good news for Pallekele, which is situated between the ghats, as it tends to stay dry.

The sun was out in Pallekele a while ago as it is expected with the weather to be playing hide and seek with rain interruptions predicted during the playing hours in the evening.

No rain seems to be taking place in the morning but there will likely be significant cloud cover over the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The weather can witness an improvement during the noon hours and the toss is very much likely to take place on time.
