PBKS vs DC, IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant came up with his first appearance in competitive cricket after a 14-month break as he made an emotional comeback in the IPL 2024.

Pant remained away from cricket after he met an unfortunate accident in December 2022 and missed out on the action in last year's IPL.

Pant is back and leading Delhi Capitals who face Punjab Kings in the second match of the tournament at the newly-built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

Talking about the match, the Punjab Kings captain won the toss and opted to field first as they aim to kick off their campaign on a positive note.

Pannt on the other hand, wants to move on from what happened with him and his side last year and is all geared up for the fresh start.

"We would have batted first. The wicket looks a little on the slower side. Really emotional time for me. Just want to enjoy the moment. Not thinking much. I think not worried about last season. Really exciting times. We have been preparing well," said Pant at the toss.

Pant announced the names of four overseas on his side with Shai Hope, Mitchell Marsh, David Warner and Tristan Stubbs all being the batters.

Shikhar Dhawan said at the toss: "We are gonna field first. It is a new pitch. We will look to come up with new strategies. We have made some changes. We are used to this ground now. We had a practice match. We will look for some luck on this venue. Our four foreign players are Bairstow, Livingstone, Curran and Rabada."
