JE Sports Desk: Days after the announcement of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to seek travel approval for the team's visit to India for the marquee event.

As per the ESPNcricinfo report, the letter also seeks advice from the government 'whether the Pakistan team is allowed to travel to India, and if so, if there are any reservations about any of the five venues for the Pakistan games, and if the Pakistani government wants to send a security delegation for reconnaissance'.

Both India and Pakistan seek government's approval before sending their national teams across the border. Earlier, PCB said that a security delegation will be sent to India to inspect arrangements at ODI World Cup 2023 venues before the team's travel.

The ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in India from October 5 to November 19 across 10 cities. Pakistan are scheduled to play their first game against Qualifier 1 at Hyderabad on October 6.

Pakistan will play at Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata while Ahmedabad will host India vs Pakistan clash at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15.

"Soon after the World Cup schedule was announced last Tuesday, we wrote to our Patron, Honourable Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, through the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, copying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior, requesting clearance to participate in the World Cup," ESPNcricinfo quoted PCB as saying.

"The decision to visit India and approve venues at which we can play our matches is the prerogative of the Government of Pakistan. We have absolute trust in the judgment of our government and will follow whatever is advised. It is entirely up to the Government of Pakistan the process it wants to formulate and follow before advising us on the next steps. If this requires sending an advance team to India to inspect the venues and hold meetings with the event organisers, then it will solely be the government's decision," it added.

Pakistan last travelled to India in 2016 for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Whereas, India rejected to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 before it was shifted to hybrid model.
