India batter Prithvi Shaw has silenced his critics with a stunning knock in only his third appearance for Northamptonshire in England’s One-Day Cup.
Shaw smashed a double hundred on Wednesday when he featured in the One-Day Cup tournament clash between Northamptonshire and Somerset at the County Ground in Northampton.

He also recorded the highest score in the competition’s history by hitting a 244-run knock in just 153 deliveries, shattering numerous List-A records and going past many legends such as Sourav Ganguly among others.
Shaw reached his century in just 81 balls, which was his maiden for his county side before he continued to punish the bowlers and brought up his second hundred in half the time. He took just 129 deliveries to complete his double ton.

However, the 23-year-old was dismissed just six runs short of a 250-run total, his inning was laced with 24 fours and eight sixes.
On the back of Shaw's remarkable knock, Northamptonshire managed to put up a total of 415 on the board which is their second-highest score in the One-Day Cup.
"The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today so it was really looking good," Shaw said. "You know when an inside edge doesn't get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn't look back after that," he said.
It was Shaw’s second double hundred in List A cricket as he went past his 227-run effort, an innings he played for Mumbai in 2020-21.
"The 227 was in my head, to be honest. I spoke to Whitey [Whiteman] when he was there and I told him it's 227, my highest score. But it was a good team effort all around. I always try and win matches for the team and I'm the kind of player who puts my team first and then myself. If scoring like this can help my team to win, then I should continue this,"
