Prithvi Shaw's debut for Northamptonshire didn't go as planned as his innings ended after a bizarre dismissal, getting hit wicket for 34 against Gloucestershire.
The instance took place in the 16th over when Gloucestershire bowler Paul van Meekeren bowled a short ball which caught Shaw off guard and in a bit of discomfort while playing the delivery as he lost his balance after offering a shot.

Shaw fell on the ground but unfortunately kicked his stumps down resulting in his dismissal.
The Indian opener added 24 runs with the skipper Lewis McManus for the sixth wicket, attempting a recovery for his team from being five down for just 30 runs on the board before he was dismissed.
A few days ago, Shaw had started his county stint with Northamptonshire in a promising style, scoring 65 off 39 Balls in an intra-squad match.
In a video shared by Northamptonshire which was captioned, “Getting straight down to business. A rapid 65 off just 39 balls for Prithvi in the 2XI this morning,” Shaw can be seen smacking the ball in different directions.
Northamptonshire announced Shaw’s arrival for his maiden stint in the English county circuit through Twitter on Monday.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m really thankful to Northamptonshire for giving me this chance to express myself here,” Shaw was quoted as saying in a media release.
“It’s going to be amazing I think and I’m really looking forward to it.” Shaw last played for India on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021, and was part of the squad for the T20Is at home against New Zealand earlier this year.
The 23-year-old batter had a disappointing IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals and was dropped midway through the tournament by his franchise.
After getting snubbed a place for the West Indies tour and the Asian Games, Shaw is on his way to work hard for a possible return to the Indian side as he headed to London to join Northamptonshire and be a part of the Royal London One Day Cup.
