Quetta Gladiators have appointed the former Australian pace bowler Shaun Tait as their new bowling coach ahead of the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League.

Tait, who was Pakistan's fast bowling coach until earlier this year, will take up the role as the new announcement comes a few days after Shane Watson was appointed as head coach of the team.

"I'd like to thank Nadeem Omar (Quetta Gladiators owner) who trusted me with the bowling group," Tait said in an official statement, "including Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Mohammad Amir. Some great talent there to work with alongside the great Shane Watson."

Tait will now the charge of the few bowlers he has already worked with in Pakistan as he sounded excited about joining a talented group of pacers, including Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Mohammad Amir.

Hasnain has been a part of the Gladiators for a few seasons whereas Amir and Wasim Jr were traded in from Karachi Kings and Islamabad United respectively.

Tait has been a huge admirer of Hasnain who is currently recuperating from an ankle injury - who falls under his wing once more. "Hasnain has got the ability to bowl proper rapid, but there's no doubt [there's an air of vulnerability to him]," he said at the time. "My input with Hasnain is purely about just using his athleticism. Getting that grunt as a fast bowler and being angry. Just running in fast and feeling good."

Tait was appointed as Pakistan's bowling coach back in February 2022 and went on to continue with the role for 12 months.

He will now be working alongside former Australian teammate Wtason and look to turn the fortunes of the Sarfraz Ahmed-led side who finished at the bottom of the table last season.

It is to be noted that the Gladiators were the most consistent franchise of the PSL during the first four editions when they reached the final three times.

They also lifted the PSL title in 2019 under Sarfaraz's leadership when they defeated Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets in the final.
