PBKS vs DC IPL 2025: Punjab Kings' star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has reckoned that he had tested positive for COVID-19 when the ongoing season got suspended and while he was back at home in Australia. Stoinis, who has played a huge role for the Punjab-based franchise this year, had flown back home after the ongoing season was suspended. But, after the season resumed, he didn't join the PBKS team immediately and gave their clash against RR a miss.

He did play a huge role in helping the Shreya Iyer-led side post a mammoth target of 206 runs during their clash against DC in Jaipur, where he had scored a gritty knock of 44 runs off 16 balls. During the mid-innings presentation, he revealed that he didn't get enough time to practice during the training session. He revealed that he got the much-needed rest back at home as he was suffering from Covid and then returned to India.

"I didn't have any nets before this game. Unfortunately, I had Covid-19 which we don't speak about much anymore. It was a nice welcome home. I rested at my home and then came back here," Stoinis told broadcasters during the mid-innings presentation.

Talking about his innings, he revealed that it was challenging to bat in the middle and go all guns-blazing. He admitted that he was shocked to see the DC bowlers not using their slowr deliveries against him.

"It's always difficult when you go out in the middle at the end and go one mode. It was good for me there. I was surprised that they didn't bowl much slower balls as I was setting up quite early. That's probably something we could do. It's a really good surface," he added.

'Fit to bowl'

Stoinis also revealed that he has been declared fit to bowl if his team needed him to. He hasn't taken a single wicket this year.

"The wicket was holding a bit but I was swinging it a bit too early. The wind is coming from the longer part of the boundary. I think it's worth using that breeze. If we need to change tactics, we will adapt as quickly as we can. I am fit to bowl if required," he concluded.
