R Ashwin Podcast: Mistaken identities can prove fatal but sometimes they can also lead to comical situations as well. Recently, former India Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin revealed how an individual impersonated as his teammate from Chennai Super Kings - Devon Conway. While speaking to Journalist Vimal Kumar on a podcast, Ashwin drew reference from a recent incident involving Rajat Patidar, narrating how an individual on social media claimed to be Blackcaps wicketkeeper batter to get the contact of former India captain Virat Kohli.

For the unversed, a man in Chhattisgarh purchased a new SIM card as he later found out it belonged to Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar. What a followed was a barrage of phone calls from players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Patidar, got hold of the situation early as he informed the police as the individual returned the SIM back to him.

Narrating his story from his YouTube channel, Ashwin stated that he once received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number claiming to be Conway. Initially, Ashwin thought it might just be genuine. However, Ashwin got suspicious as the individual asked for Kohli's contact.

Sensing the situation, Ashwin sent a Kohli's contact which was inactive. To test the situation further, Ashwin asked the individual if he liked that bat which he gave to him recently. To which the individual said - 'Good'. Ashwin, then, immediately realised that the person is impersonating Conway as he didn't give any bat to him in the first place.

Ashwin blocked the contact and sent it for authentication through Chennai Super Kings’ communication channels and it was indeed a fake account.

Ashwin Leaving CSK?

As per reports, Ashwin and CSK are likely to part ways with each other after discussions. Notably, CSK bought Ashwin for Rs 9.75 crore as it was deemed a homecoming for the Cricketer who started his IPL career with the franchise.
